Sulfates in cane juices ca attain 3,000 - 10,900 ppm (average 8,300) in raw juice solids, in Florida (Clarke S.).
In some beet sugar factories CaSO4 is added to the extraction water, in diffusion, in order to increase pressing characteristics of the exhausted pulp.
Sulfates in molasses with 75% dry substance:
- cane molasses: 0.2 - 2.0 (average 1.5) mg/kg
- beet molasses: 0.45 - 1.5 (average 1.0) mg/kg (van der Poel, et al.)
