CalciumBy Bento, Luis San MiguelPosted on 2007-10-10 Last edited on 2010-12-07
Calcium is used as calcium carbonate, calcium oxide or calcium hydroxide in sugar industry. Although calcium compounds are useful in sugar industry, the excess of calcium in sugars and solutions must be avoided. Calcium can be removed from sugar solutions through precipitation (adding phosphoric acid or a phosphate) or using ion exchange resins (softening).
